Katie and Gabe’s love story begins in Utah, where they are from. Shortly after they started dating, Katie moved to North Dakota to pursue her career in television at Studio 701. They didn’t let the distance affect them, as Gabe would make the 16-hour trip just to spend time with her. During one of his visits, Gabe made the trip even more special by surprising Katie with a heartfelt proposal, and of course, she said yes without hesitation!
Katie had always envisioned an engagement session that was as romantic as their love story, with a cozy picnic and fields of flowers surrounding them. So, when they chose Third Day Farms as their backdrop, it felt like the perfect place for their photos. The gentle breeze, the vibrant wildflowers, and the peaceful atmosphere made their engagement session feel like something out of a dream!

Nestled in a dreamy countryside, Third Day Farms is truly a hidden gem.
They are a big producer for a favorite local florist of mine, Love Always Floral, and are a sweet family-owned company. If you’re dreaming of a flower-filled session, this is the perfect spot. You do need permission to photograph at their flower farm so I suggest reaching out to them in advance.
What to Wear for Engagement Photos
When planning your engagement session, it’s all about finding the perfect compliment to the beautiful background. A flower farm provides a whimsical, romantic backdrop, and it’s best to find an outfit that pairs with all the natural beauty. Flowing dresses, in light shades like pastels or neutrals, not only look stunning but also feel relaxed, making it easy to walk through the fields. It’s best to consider dresses in solid colors, or very delicate patterns that won’t feel too busy in your photos.
For a more casual look, wearing a simple, light-colored shirt paired with jeans can be just as perfect. The idea is to stay minimal while allowing the beauty of the flowers to shine in the photos. As far as accessories go, definitely keep it simple, but something like a wide-brimmed hat can add just that little bit of flair to the photos.
The most important thing is to choose to wear something that feels like you. You want to feel your best because your confidence can definitely make a difference in your photos!
