St. George Senior Photos Guide
Planning senior photos in St. George is such a fun experience because the area is packed with gorgeous red rock views, desert landscapes, and the lighting is beautiful here. There’s a lot of variety in the locations so you have plenty of backdrops to use in your session, and your session can feel like an adventure visiting some of St. George’s most beautiful spots. It’s an ideal choice for senior photos that feel unique and show off some of Utah’s beauty.

Where to Take St. George Senior Photos
As I mentioned above, there’s so much variety here in St. George, which means plenty of options to choose from for your session! You can stick with one of these locations, or travel to a few to add some variety to your gallery. Here are a few of my favorite spots!
Snow Canyon State Park
This is a favorite, as Snow Canyon has those iconic red rocks, sand dunes, and lava fields that add so much to every photo. It’s perfect if you want something adventurous, and shows of quintessential Utah.
Sand Hollow Reservoir
If you love the idea of waterfront photos, this spot is dreamy. You get bright blue water against warm red rocks, which makes everything pop in photos. It gives off a fun, summery vibe and isn’t typically overcrowded.
Red Cliffs Desert Reserve
Red Cliffs Desert Reserve gives you a more low-key desert vibe with beautiful red rocks and peaceful trails. It’s a great option if you love natural scenery and want your photos to feel effortlessly gorgeous.
Downtown St. George
If you want more of a city vibe to your session, downtown has cute storefronts, brick textures, murals, and tree-lined streets. This is a fun route if you want to make your session feel a little more personal and visit spots that make sense for you!
Pioneer Park
Pioneer Park is super accessible and has tons of spots to explore with slot canyons, boulders, and overlooks. It’s ideal if you want that red rock look without a long hike.

When to Take St. George Senior Photos
Choosing what time of year for your session here in St. George depends on the overall look you are wanting for your photos. Here’s what each season looks like here!
Fall
Fall is honestly one of the best times for senior photos here. The temps cool down a bit, the lighting is gorgeous, and the desert starts to feel more crisp with golden hues. It’s the most comfortable time of year for a session, and also less crowded.
Winter
Winter in St. George is mild compared to most places, which makes it a pretty underrated season. You get softer light, fewer crowds, and still plenty of color in the landscape. Just bring layers since it can get chilly once the sun dips.
Spring
Spring is beautiful with fresh greens, wildflowers, and perfect temps. The desert feels alive, and everything has that clean, bright look. It can be a little windy, but that can also add a lot of fun movement to your photos!
Summer
Summer can be really hot and uncomfortable, but there are ways to make it work if that’s the only time that works for a session. Sunrise or sunset sessions are key if you’re shooting this time of year. The warm evening glow on the red rocks is gorgeous, and you can get those classic desert colors with slightly cooler temps.

What to Wear for St. George Senior Photos
For St. George senior photos, think about choosing outfits that complement the warm desert tones, like neutrals, earthy colors, soft pastels, or classic denim. Flowy dresses are always a good idea, because it can add that movement to your photos, which is always stunning! You do want to avoid super busy patterns, neon colors, or anything that you feel uncomfortable wearing, as this can all take away from you in the photos! The backdrop here in Utah already has so much going on that it’s best to keep your outfit simple, so as not to clash or feel distracting.
Most importantly, just wear something that you feel confident in as this is what you’ll see the most in your photos, and it makes all the difference!
