Indian Beach Engagement Photos

You really can’t get more epic views and stunning beach views for your Oregon engagement photos than Indian Beach! It’s truly filled with natural beauty and the scenery is unbeatable. I love how versatile this location is, as it gives you a wide variety of backdrops, and has a perfect blend of beach and forest vibes.

The beach has miles of shoreline for you to explore with your partner and every bit of it is stunning! The sunsets are unforgettable, and it really is gorgeous there all year long making it ideal for capturing photos. Let’s go over some details to make sure you have the perfect engagement photos in Indian Beach!

Where to Plan Engagement Photos along Oregon Coast

Cannon Beach offers multiple, equally gorgeous locations that you can choose from for your engagement session!

Haystack Rock

The most popular spot to choose from is Haystack Rock, and just the miles of beach that you see in this session. It’s popular for a reason because it’s truly breathtaking! It’s a perfect place to explore and have the rock as a backdrop. It also provides as a breeding ground for tufted puffins during the spring, which is incredible! Because this can be a popular spot, early mornings on weekdays typically provide you the most privacy for your session.

Ecola State Park

You reach Ecola State Park on a winding drive through moss-covered rainforest at the end of Cannon Beach which is a view not to be missed! This spot offers you sweeping views of the coastline and the lush forests. It also has plenty of easy walking paths, hiking trails, as well as access to Indian Beach and Crescent Beach.

Hug Point State Recreation Site

Hug Point offers more of a secluded and intimate setting with a more private beach and a waterfall! It also has these gorgeous sea caves and seaside cliffs that adds a dramatic touch to your photos.

Oswald West State Park

For a bit farther option, Oswald West State Park is 10 minutes from Cannon Beach and has beautiful viewpoints, miles of hiking trails, and has an easy walk to Short Sand Beach.

Whatever location you choose, the Oregon Coast will provide the most magical setting for your engagement session!

When to Take Engagement Photos at Indian Beach in Oregon

Each time of year provides something different here at Cannon Beach, although it really is stunning year round. But there are a few seasons that are more ideal! It really just depends on the vibe you are looking for, and what weather you prefer to dress for.

Summer at Indian Beach

From June to August you’ll see some of the best weather with the sunshine and the long days, which is great for a session! But it also means that you’re going to have to work around crowds. So if you choose a summer session, opt for a sunrise to have the location to yourself!

Spring and Fall at Indian Beach

This time of year may have slightly chillier temps, but much less crowds to work around. So this gives you a more intimate session, and you’ll still have mild weather to explore in!

Winter at Indian Beach

Winter can actually be a beautiful time to visit here, although you will need to be more bundled up! You’ll have the more dramatic stormy skies and much less people on the beach!

What to Wear for Indian Beach Engagement Photos

You can go many directions with what you choose for your outfits, and it does depend on what overall look you want for your photos. Start with if you want a more dressy session, or do you prefer more casual? Then you can go into more specifics of what pieces and the colors!

But specifically for Indian Beach, consider first what time of year you are planning your session. If it’s in the winter months, you’ll want to find warm sweaters, or jackets with the chilly weather. But in the summer, a fun flowy dress or jeans and a tank top match the vibe of a sunny, warm session.

Warm colors are really beautiful on the beach for cloudy weather as it will help you and your partner pop. But if it’s a bright sunny day, white or other neutral colors are always a good idea! What I recommend most for beach sessions is something that gives movement, because with the beach breezes, it adds so much to your photos!
